Baptism

The first of the seven sacraments that unites us with Christ and forgives us of all our sins.

In order to celebrate a Baptism at Holy Name of Jesus, you must be a registered member of the parish and have selected Godparents for your child who are registered either at this parish or have proof of registration at another Catholic parish. Once this is completed, please contact the parish office to schedule your pre-baptismal class and baptism date with Fr. Pat Arensberg.

First Communium

The celebratory event in the life of a parish when young people join the community in receiving our Lord Jesus Christ in the sacrament of the Eucharist during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass

We are so glad you have chosen Holy Name of Jesus as the parish where your child will receive the Eucharist for the very first time! All children receiving their First Reconciliation and First Communion at Holy Name of Jesus must be enroll in our CCD Program and be in second grade or above. To sign your child up for First Communion, please contact our Family Life Coordinator, MC Sylvester at youth@hnjcatholic.com

Confirmation

In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is "sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit" and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ.

Confirmation at Holy Name of Jesus is open to all young people (11th grade and above) who desire to strengthen their relationship with Christ. All of those wishing to receive the sacrament must go through our Confirmation Preparation Program, which takes place in the Fall. Please contact Fr. Pat or MC for registration forms and more information.

Penance is an experience of the gift of God's boundless mercy. Not only does the Sacrament of Penance free us from our sins but it also challenges us to have the same kind of compassion and forgiveness for those who sin against us.

Reconciliation is available in the Church:

Saturdays from 5:00PM-5:20

Sundays from 7:30-7:50 and 9:30-9:50

Matrimony

Congratulations! The decision to marry is truly one of the most important and joyful decisions of your life. The Church is dedicated to help engaged couples more fully understand Christ's beautiful vision of marriage and equips them with the tools necessary to deal with the day-to-day joys and struggles of married life.

If you plan to celebrate the Sacrament of Marriage at Holy Name of Jesus, please contact Fr. Pat at least six months before your desired wedding date. You will need to meet with him to set your wedding date, present baptism certificates, be certain that you are free to marry in the Church, schedule an Engaged Encounter retreat weekend, and plan your wedding liturgy

Anointing of the Sick

Is there anyone sick among you? He should ask for the presbyters of the church. They in turn are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. - James 5:14

If you or a loved one is suffering from an illness, about to have surgery, or is terminally sick, please do not hesitate to contact the office to schedule an anointing.  It is not necessary to wait until a person is dying before calling a priest. The Anointing of the Sick “is not a sacrament for those only who are at the point of death” (CCC 1514).

At Holy Name of Jesus, Anointing of the Sick is available upon request. Please call the office to schedule an appointment with Fr. Pat

Holy Orders

Ordination to the priesthood is always a call and a gift from God. Christ reminded his Apostles that they needed to ask the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into the harvest.

Do you believe you may be called to discern a vocation to the priesthood?  If so, visit the Archdiocese of Mobile Vocation Website or contact Fr. Pat at frpat@hnjcatholic.com
